Jackson State Wins Second National Title

JSU celebrates their hard-fought 2nd win with Alexandra Warnier, Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility, Mr. Aoyama, SEVP and COO of American Honda,  and Steve Morikawa, Vice President of Corporate Relations and Social Responsibility of American Honda

The Tigers of Jackson State University roared their way to their second national title. In the quarterfinals, Jackson State faced Florida A&M University. In the semis, Jackson State met Oakwood.  For the finals, JSU competed against Spelman College, besting them in 2 games. 

The finals were followed by lunch at Honda’s R&D facility. Afterwards, Honda Associates hosted break-out sessions to give students information protips about the importance of credit as well as behind-the-scenes information about Human Resources and Research & Development.


2018 Closing Awards Banquet

The HCASC Closing Awards Banquet is not just an opportunity to celebrate the National Champions. It is also a chance to socialize, share, and recognize stand-out students from all of the Great 48 HBCUs.

NCT QUALIFIERS
Each of the NCT Qualifiers receive a $3,000 grant for their HBCU.

The Sweet 16 teams receive a $6,000 grant from Honda; $10,000 went to each of the Elite 8

Ernest C. Jones Sportsperson Award

Others were also honored at the banquet last night. Nayirah Muhammed of Fisk University. Nayirah was also a high-scoring All-Star.

Coach of the Year

Described as “a Pied Piper for HCASC,” this year’s Coach of the Year is the two-time National Championship winning Herbert R. Thomas from Prairie View A&M University.

  1. Honda showed an extremely high level of hospitality to everyone that was involved in this event. It will be a memory I will never forget. I am honored to have been chosen to be a part of it. #HCASC Class of 2018
