1/9/12 Weekly Update

Greetings,

Please carefully read the January Campus Coordinators & Coaches newsletter emailed to you on January 5th.
It has important and timely information.
We have new tools to help you narrow down and select your NCT Team.

The new HCASC Game Play Database must be installed on a dedicated laptop to qualify for the NCT:
  1. You will need exclusive use of a Windows laptop plus a monitor until you depart for the NCT.  If you don't yet have that dedicated equipment, wish your IT staff a Happy New Year and implore them to help your HBCU qualify.
  2. If you are emailing us your Database ExportData file, please include whether you need the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the database.  You may find this information by opening the laptop's Control Panel and then clicking the System icon.
  3. If you'd like assistance installing the new database, sign-up for a Database Upgrade & Install Lab webinar.  In 60 minutes you will be up and running.

Here is an NCT Part 2 Qualification checklist:
-Install the new Game Play Database
-Select your NCT Team
-Play game #15 with your NCT Team
-Upload the game #15 scoresheet and complete the Training Questionnaire
-Complete your HCASC Community Service project
-Complete the online Community Service Report & Submissions (including pictures, press clippings and other documentation files)
-Complete the online Team Registration
-Upload your Institutional Eligibility Form (part of Team Registration process)
-Complete the online Liability Waiver & Copyright Acknowledgement Form
-Complete the online Player Registrations (all team members, the coach and any institutional reps -- including a photo for their name badges)

You can check your NCT Qualification Status online.  Please remember that not all entries are updated as fast as you submit them, because they require review by a member of the staff.  However, they are reviewed within 24 hours and then updated on this page by 7 pm (ET) the following day.

Game Play Action to prepare for the Nationals:
Sign-up for a Pre-NCT Tournament.  Slots are filling fast.  If you have signed up already, please pay the invoice by January 15th and submit your roster by January 20th.

HCASC NCT Internships:

HCASC Weekly Update - 11/1/11

Greetings HCASC Team!

It’s November 1st already. Hope this update finds you doing well!

1.        PART I QUALIFICATION

Tips for success:
-        Secure a dedicated laptop AND desktop monitor to use for the Game Play database & HCASC program.
-        Use Power Search as a recruiting tool for your HCASC Academic Club or your campus tournament. It will expose HCASC to more students than you can personally reach.
-        Use only games 1 & 2 for practice and training especially if you will be using the campus tournament to qualify.
-        Save publicity samples for submission. If you came up with creative ideas of your own, please do share.
-        Part I Qualification materials can be submitted from now through December 5. All submission is online this year at: http://www.hcasc.com/nct/forms/cpreport.asp.
-        Contact HCASC Headquarters for any questions or challenges you may have in time to qualify. One on ones sometimes helps it to click.
-        You can also get online chat help as well. Visit our Get Help Now page for additional resources. http://www.hcasc.com/gethelp.asp

2.        HCASC MENTORS

There are several HCASC constituents HCASC alums, national volunteers and fellow campus coordinators who are ready, willing and able to assist you with understanding and executing your HCASC program. Call on them. Their contact information is on-line. http://www.hcasc.com/mentors.asp

3.        HCASC COMMUNITY SERVICE

Have you already made a connection in the field of education and mentoring? That is the focus of the community service this year in order to qualify for Part I and the grant award for your partner organization. Snap those photos of the service being carried out in HCASC paraphernalia and or signs, posters, etc.  HCASC Headquarters has merchandise that can be provided, while supplies last, for campuses who cannot provide their own. Email tisha@hcasc.com with the specifics.

4.        HCASC QUICK QUIZ: BASKETBALL

The Honda Campus All-Star Challenge Quick Quiz, which debut at several campuses during football season, is being offered for your use at home basketball games.  If you would like for your institution to be involved in this HCASC promotional campaign, send an email to lillian@hcasc.com  You will need to provide a list of which basketball games (men, women's, both) that the Quick Quiz will be presented.  You will also need to provide the attendance figures (make sure there is a system in place) for the games in which the Quick Quiz occurred.
